Additional activities

DYS-centrum’s additional activities include especially two spheres:

Ø SOCIAL PATHOLOGY PHENOMENA PREVENTION – we have been cooperating with Prague 7 council for several years and together we run a Club for school children (aged 6-15) who are at risk of social exclusion for their low SES; and for children from minor groups. Sessions with children focus on their complex development and are held by special educators and speech therapists. They include art-therapy, speech therapy, communication skills development, stimulation of auditory and visual perception, cognitive functions, concentration, fine motor skills etc. The training does not only focus on cognitive development but also on strengthening children’s social status and development of skills which are required by community and school. However, the programme also supports specific features of different ethnic groups.

Ø In 2007 the previous programme was also adjusted to preschool children from minorities to grant them good start at schools.

Ø PUBLICATION ACTIVITIES – Apart from “Catalogue of publications, teaching aids, PC programmes and audio programmes suitable for re-education of specific learning disabilities and/or AD(H)D” published in cooperation with Dr. Kucharská and Dr. Michalová, we have also published several methodical and re-educational materials: “Visual Perception – Visual differentiation I. and II.” (written by J. Bednářová); “Don’t be afraid of writing” (written by Y. Heyrovská); “Relaxation grapho-motor exercises” (written by J. Bednářová); “Reading, writing, drawing I. and II” (written by D. Švancarová), Series Numerical up to 100, Series Numerical up to 1000 – part I., II (written by J. Bednářová).
